Telemedicine is a practical alternative if you don’t feel well enough to get dressed, drive to a medical office, and sit (perhaps for quite a while) in a waiting area with other sick people whose germs are mixing freely with your own. Instead, you can wait briefly in the comfort of your home or office for a certified medical assistant to come to you.
- Collect a brief history, including current symptoms and all medications, both prescriptions and over the counter
- Take your vital signs: blood pressure, pulse, oxygen levels, temperature, weight
- Connect you REAL-TIME, FACE-TO-FACE to a medical professional such as a physician, physician’s assistant, or nurse practitioner
- Examine your eyes, ears, nose, and throat; testing strength and reflexes; transmitting your heart and lung sounds in real-time to the medical professional
- The medical assistant can even perform a full EKG as ordered by the medical professional
- Blood can be drawn and throat cultures can be taken as ordered by the medical professional
The medical professional can prescribe medication, as needed, which can be ordered from your preferred pharmacy. A full report, with your written approval, will be provided to your regular medical professional in a timely manner.
